Lille, in the flatlands of northern France But my heart is in Haute-Loire, in the mountains of the Massif Central, where I live today!
Favorite rivers :
Without a doubt, the Allier. It’s where I first discovered whitewater, and for me, it offers the perfect combination of whitewater and canoe camping! 70 km of alternating calm stretches and great rapids, all through a spectacular gorge.
But the list is long! A few other rivers that come to mind are the Salindrenque, the Gazeille, the Ardèche, the Mistassibi North-West, and the Etive… There are so many!
Favorite boats :
The Pocket Canyon, whether paddling solo or tandem with my partner, for both whitewater and canoe camping. And of course, the L’Edge Lite!
Most memorable moment on water :
There are so many!
Sitting around the fire after a full day of paddling in the rain, knowing you’ll get up and do it all over again the next morning. It’s a feeling I never get tired of.
Running a challenging rapid in tandem and feeling completely in sync.
My first time paddling with other open canoeists on the Ötztaler Ache during the European C-Boat Armada in Austria.
Or simply another run down the Allier with friends.
