Our fiberglass laminate has a coloured gelcoat, is less expensive yet heavier than our Kevlar laminate. Our clear coat Kevlar laminate offers the very lightest weight for flatwater performance.
Royalex
Royalex, an ABS interwined vinyl multi-laminate, is created by a vulcanization process. Its resistance to abrasion and to the most violent impacts makes it an excellent material for canoe construction.
Heated and molded, the Royalex forms a shell with an unequalled structural memory. Therefore, even if folded against a bridge support, the Esquif canoe reshapes itself with minimal distortion. More resistant than fiberglass and lighter than polyethylene, Royalex is the preferred material of those who are always looking for canoes of superior quality.
Royalite Royalite is a multi-laminate similar to Royalex but distinguished by its lightness. Instead of using vinyl as an interior and exterior surface layer, R-84 (Royalite) is used which also helps to enhance material rigidity. R-84's superior strength permits a reduction in the use of ABS layers further reducing weight. The result is a weight reduction of 15% with a minimum loss of material strength or durability.
T-Form Elite T-Form Elite is a unqiue material and thermoforming process that Esquif has developed to produce a thermoformed, twin-sheet canoe.
Although this process could use polyethylene alloy sheets similar to the material in rotomolded kayaks, our proprietory polypropylene based material has superior strength, weight stability and cosmetic properties. A thermoformed deck and hull of this unique material is fused to form the Taureau.
Twin-Tex Twin-tex is a woven high tech fiber reinforced with polypropylene produced with a special thermoforming process to produce a very light, very stiff and very durable hull.
